About The Shape House

The Shape House publishes guides to home saunas and heat therapy for a UK audience. Infrared cabins, traditional Finnish rooms, sauna blankets, cold plunge and red light.

The site is published by Future Business Media, which runs a family of independent specialist titles.

What we cover

  • Comparisons. Infrared against traditional, one person against two, one format against another, decided on cost and evidence rather than on which is fashionable.
  • Running costs. Real arithmetic at the current price cap unit rate, with the rate and its period stated so you can see when it goes out of date.
  • Installation. What a UK socket will actually carry, when you need an electrician, and what the Building Regulations treat as notifiable.
  • Evidence. What the research says, how strong it is, and where it stops.

The rule for every figure

Every number on this site carries the date it was checked and a link to the source. Usually that is a regulator, a peer-reviewed study, or a live retailer listing.

An undated figure is decoration. A price from 2024 or a tariff from two caps ago will read as current to anyone who does not know better, and this market is full of both.

What we will not do

We do not carry a claim we cannot source. This site previously ran on detox and weight-loss copy. Neither survives contact with the evidence, so both are gone rather than reworded.

We do not invent products, prices or people. If we name a cabin and a price, that listing was live on the date we say.

We do not sell recommendations. Nobody pays to appear here, and no brand sees a page before it publishes.

There are no affiliate links on this site as of August 2026. If that changes, every one will be labelled and it will not change what we recommend.

Safety, and what this site is not

Heat therapy is generally safe and it is not risk-free. Our pages describe sensible practice and reproduce the published guidance, including the radiation protection advice on infrared cabins.

That is general information, not medical advice. If you have a heart condition, are pregnant, or take medication that affects how you handle heat, ask a doctor before you start.

Corrections

If a figure here is wrong or has gone stale, we want to know. Email the detail to hello@theshapehouse.com and we will fix it.

How we work sets out who writes this and how claims get checked.
